A few things that melt my heart--

This is my first blog-- My name is Iris Carter I am in the masters program at Walden University

"The kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn—I love this book because I see so many children have such a hard time saying goodbye to their parents in the morning//afternoon etc.. That parent/emotional detachment is something that is very hard for small children to do. I had a hard time going to school as well I cried all day and I think of this book still when I  still miss my mother. I moved to Atlanta Ga alone and it is still hard for me to say goodbye when I go home. I think of this book all the time and I say to myself my mother is always with me no matter where I go (she is in my heart).

  1. Hi
I love this story. During my first week teaching Pre-K I introduce my student to this book. I knew this would be a hard transition for any parent and child. After I read the story and did the art activity it made the adjustment a little better.

  2. I love this book, too - The kissing hand. I usually share this book with the children the first day that they come on their scheduled Pre-K staggered entry day. I have the heart stickers that I give to each child after I finish reading the story. Most of the time after I have shared this book I have very few criers.
