Organization- Harlem Kid Zone

The organization I chose to research is Harlem Kid Zone http://hcz.org/our-programs/#education
Their primary goal is to give kids the individualized support they need to get to and through college and become productive, self-sustaining adults.

The national model for breaking the cycle of poverty

In order to achieve long-term success, children need consistent, comprehensive support. Our pipeline begins at birth and helps kids every step of the way until college graduation through exceptional education, social services, family support, health, and community-building programs. By continuously assessing the progress of our youth, we can leverage the power of our pipeline to fine-tune our programs and ensure that we are fully addressing the needs of every child, at every age.
This organization reaches out to many children and families and expect tremendous goals and expectations for the youth. On April 28, 2016  Harlem Children Zone welcomed Michelle Obama and any others to the Harlem Armory to celebrate National College Signing Day 2016. The event was established to show excitement in celebrating students going to college. College is a very big milestone in a young adults life they need support and encouragement during their journey. At HCZ they know all the obstacles and issues that can affect the educational journey for students-Early Childhood>Elementary School>Middle School>High school>College. There goal is to help one student succeed one step at a time.

  1. Hello Kelly,
That is an amazing work that the Harlem Kid Zone is doing, being committed to following one child (I know there is more than one child) can be challenging for any task, but to follow them from birth to graduation is remarkable. I must follow this organization as well. It is absolutely wonderful that they recognize the issues that can lead to failure and addressed those issues so that success can be achieved.

  2. Hello, I am also overwhelmed that this organization follows young children from birth to graduation just to make sure they stay on the correct path and is equipped and ready for college. I'm definitely looking further into this organization myself.
